A small lotus pond further adds to the beauty.
It is one of the dhams in the shaivism tradition and hence is of outmost religious importance. Jageshwar and Jageshwar Dham are the same. There are two big temples here wherein the shivlinga is workshipped. There are some people who come here to perform special pujas.
The temples are very peaceful and nice. I just wish that the pandits were a little less commercial and they let you be inside the temple on your own. The Dham is set amidst deodar tress on the banks of river jata ganga. Its very peaceful and meditative. Dont miss the huge deodar tree here on the campus. There are many small big shrines here with mostly shivalinga.
I think they would have been devi temples also primarily since there is a lion on most temples. The temples have been through many changes over a period of years. No guide or information is availble. Do go to the kubera temple next to the main complex. Its 5 min from the complex but the view and the feel from there is very peaceful. Temple, river, pines, forest, peace all in one frame.
A small village that gives only nature among the Holy temples. Good Indian food available in all hotels. Don't expect 5 star amenities but basic comfort provided.
This temple complex has Shiva temples and 17 other deities, total of temples dating back to th centuries. It is the 8th Jyoti Linga. It is set amidst Kumaon hills and on the bank of river Jata Ganga. It is under ASI and is a protected monument. The complex is well kept has a modern and clean toilet nearby. It is one of the best Temples I have visited so far.
Construction is very ancient. Even after years of age the structure of the temple is very well rigid. The atmosphere inside the temple is so peaceful that there are no words that can describe it. Nearby there is a museum managed by Archaeological Survey of India. Ancient idols are kept there too. It was more like a rock band on tour than a Sunday morning at the chapel. Jesus was not against worship in a formal setting — he was a Jew, and he went to the temple to pray — but he went there with a heart full of love for his father.
He knew that many people were only going to church because they had to, or because they wanted to look good. Jesus taught that loving relationships with a Father God and with our friends and family are more important than rituals.
Through the ages, this good version of the church has lived on. This church is where loving relationships exist, where people worship God with honesty, and where vision and purpose has made change possible in the world. Anti-slavery, social and civil rights have all come from groups of believers standing up for change.
If you decide to follow Jesus, God desires that we have other people in our lives who believe the same — people whom we can consider as close as brothers or sisters. You might not think that such friendships are possible or even desirable in the churches which you know about.
But Church is changing. Some Christians choose to live and work together, sometimes on poor housing estates, and there are even churches which meet in Costa or Starbucks cafes.
